Minamotono Yoshitomo was the father of the first Kamakura Shogunate conquering general, Minamotono Yoritomo. During the down period of Genji family, Yoshitomo distinguished himself and became the chief among the Kawachi Genji family group. He struggled for a resurgence after losing the battle and was eventually betrayed by his own family.
