Minamotono Yoriyoshi was a samurai from the Heian period (100 years before the Kamakura period), who supported the foundation of the Genji clan. In his late years, he became a Buddhist priest and relocated Iwashimizu Hachimangu (the god of the Genji family clan) to Kamakura Yui and worshiped it.
